Midwives

Midwives independently support women and families during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and breastfeeding, playing a central role in the healthcare of mother and child. This sector is currently characterized by increasing demands on the quality of care, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. At the same time, a shortage of skilled workers, regional supply bottlenecks, and economic pressures in parts of obstetrics are exacerbating the situation for many facilities and independent practitioners. Academic training, more integrated care across sectors, and the desire for individualized support are also gaining importance. Therefore, midwives remain indispensable for providing safe, continuous, and family-centered support during a sensitive phase of life.
