The population of Eurasian eagle-owls in Germany is regularly monitored. For this purpose, young eagle-owls at approximately three to six weeks old are ringed directly in their nests. During this process, the young bird is examined and its weight is recorded. This weight measurement provides important information about the health and development of the birds. The data collected is incorporated into population monitoring and forms an important basis for targeted conservation measures.
