Antifreeze, i.e. mixtures of water and alcohol, are used to ensure that heat exchangers are protected against corrosion. To ensure the correct mixing ratio, this is checked with a refractometer. This ensures the correct mixing ratio, ensures that the system functions properly and avoids complaints.

Since a change in state occurs in heat pipes when the liquid is heated, which leads to an immediate change in pressure, the heat pipe can explode if the critical pressure is exceeded, especially in worn pipes. To be on the safe side, the thickness of the pipe material should therefore be checked regularly.
