Weighing of polyamide workpieces to determine water absorption

Due to their strength and versatility, polyamide plastics are widely used in automotive construction – for example, in lamp housings, pedals, or fuel tanks. They must be conditioned before processing: Only through targeted water absorption do they achieve the desired material properties, such as increased elongation at break and improved elasticity. The exact moisture absorption is usually specified on the component drawings. Using a high-resolution precision scale, the component is weighed before and after the conditioning process to reliably calculate the moisture content – a crucial step in quality assurance in technical plastics processing.
