Sludge is a mixture of finely distributed solids with a variable amount of water. Sludge is made up of organic and inorganic matter, which is present in mineral and biological form as well as in dissolved form. Flocculants are primarily used to dry the sludge so that all flocculated substances can be filtered out. A moisture meter can be used to determine how much residual moisture is present in the filtrate. Depending on the moisture level, the operator can determine which flocculant was effective or how much flocculant needs to be used to achieve the best result.
