Internists diagnose, treat, and manage diseases of the internal organs and play a central role in the care of people with chronic, complex, and multiple illnesses. This field is particularly affected by demographic change, increasing multimorbidity, and growing demands for coordinated and cost-effective care. At the same time, digital applications, data-driven medicine, prevention, and new outpatient care models are gaining in importance. Internists must therefore effectively combine broad medical knowledge, specialized expertise, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
